ILLUSTRATED RECIPES
A collection of illustrated recipes from very special people in my family - dishes I remember eating during the week, or on special occasions like Thanksgiving.
Macaroni Casserole, the one dinner dish I remember my Dad making growing up. Quick & simple, and of course - cooked in that lovely green and white pyrex dish from the 70's. I decided to lean into the olive color that dominates my memory of this dish. Home decor has come along way since my childhood! Created for the Favorite Food Memory challenge on They Draw.
Spicy Herbert Appetizer. It may be odd, but this is a very special recipe that I enjoy at most family gatherings but especially at Thanksgiving. A pre dinner dip - served with melba toast. Don't knock it til you try it! The rumor is the "spicy" title is not just for the ingredients but also the curmudgeonly family member it is named after. Created for the Favorite Food Memory challenge on They Draw.
My Aunt Kathy's soup kicks-off every Thanksgiving dinner. A wonderful starter or a great entrée on a chilly day. Every time I eat this soup I think of her and the large Thanksgiving dinners that our Family would have when we all lived close by each other. They are the reason this is my favorite holiday.
Posted on They Draw, and originally illustrated in 2017 for a tea towel available on Spoonflower and Etsy.
My Uncle Walt's Rum Cake recipe, made by my Aunt Kathy every Christmas. A family favorite now required at all occasions. Not only is this cake easy to make and very delicious, but it reminds me of two people who are so special to me. This version was done for They Draw, but it was originally created for a Spoonflower’s annual Recipe Tea Towel contest in 2016 and won 4th place.
